Eskis ice Voodoos

SUDBURY, Ont. – Dillan Bruce tallied twice and helped set-up another as the Iroquois Falls Eskis defeated the Powassan Voodoos 4-3 Tuesday afternoon in Game 4 of the NOJHL Showcase at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex.

Action in the opening stanza saw the two sides tally once with Powassan’s Gary Mantz getting things going offensively at 15:46 while Bruce supplied the equalizer with 13 seconds left in the session.

A strong start to the second stanza allowed the Eskis to strike three times to go up 4-1 with half a game to play as Bruce, Jack Speer and Shadow Reuben, with his eighth of the season, all scored on Voodoos netminder Nate McDonald.

Powassan stormed back in the remainder of the period and were rewarded with a pair of markers, with Andy Baker notching his 10th overall while Brett Hahkala collected his second.

The Voodoos pumped 14 shots on Iroquois Falls starter Artem Bortovskiy in the final frame, but could not solve the Eskis goalkeeper who stood tall in helping his side secure the win.

Tyler Gervais-Rolfe dished out a pair of assists in a losing cause for Powassan.

Shots on goal favoured the Voodoos by 43-21 count.
