NOJHL announces its CCM Hockey players of the month for October

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday its respective CCM Hockey player, defenceman, goaltender and rookie of the month for October.

CCM HOCKEY PLAYER OF THE MONTH – TYLER FYFE, (F) KIRKLAND LAKE GOLD MINERS: Taking to the ice in 11 outings last month, the 20-year-old Cloverdale, B.C. product etched his name on the scoresheet in 10 of them, including seven multi-point affairs.

In all Fyfe totalled 23 points on 13 goals and 10 assists helping Kirkland Lake post a 7-3-1-0 record for the month.

He also tallied twice five times, including his last three games while also producing one game-winner.

Fyfe currently sits tied for third in NOJHL scoring with 28 points in 19 match-ups with 16 markers and a dozen helpers.

CCM HOCKEY DEFENCEMAN OF THE MONTH – ETHAN LAVALLEE, (D) RAYSIDE-BALFOUR CANADIANS: Solid play on both ends of the ice earned him league monthly accolades on defence.

The 17-year-old Lavallee, who hails from Skead, Ont., picked up points in his last eight games in October as he contributed four goals and nine assists for the Canadians while also bolstering his club’s back-end.

One of his markers was a game-winner.

Entering action in November, Lavallee is second in points among NOJHL blueliners with 18 in only 16 games played while notching five goals and helping set-up 13 more.

CCM HOCKEY GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH – MACKENZIE SAVARD, (G) RAYSIDE-BALFOUR CANADIANS: A stellar 7-1-0-1 record last month saw Savard shine helping Rayside-Balfour make a jump up the league standings.

In the time frame the 20-year-old netminder from Dowling, Ont., registered a solid 2.05 goals-against average along with a stingy .944 save percentage and two shutouts.

Savard currently tops all NOJHL goalkeepers in wins with 10 and is also tops by boasting a .942 save mark and is third in average at 2.11.

CCM HOCKEY ROOKIE OF THE MONTH – HARRISON ISRAELS, (F) POWASSAN VOODOOS: An impressive October saw Israels pile up 19 points in just nine games for the league-leading Voodoos as he tallied nine times and doled out 10 helpers.

This included six multi-point affairs for the 18-year-old forward from Mississauga, Ont.

Israels is now second overall in offensive production among NOJHL rookies with 12 goals and 11 assists to his credit in 17 games played. His 23 points also tie him for second in scoring on Powassan’s roster.
