Thunderbirds move up to 7th; Crunch 12th

SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League continues to earn national recognition from the Canadian Junior Hockey League as three of its member clubs garnered attention in the latest Pointstreak top 20 rankings, which were announced Monday.

For a second consecutive week the Powassan Voodoos were ranked No. 1 overall in the weekly listings while the surging Soo Thunderbirds moved to seventh overall and the Cochrane Crunch jumped to 12th in the CJHL’s latest listings, which are compiled in conjunction with International Scouting Services.

Powassan is a perfect 10-0 to start the season and remain the lone unbeaten side in the 131-team CJHL.

With 20 points the Voodoos also hold games in hand on the Thunderbirds and Crunch in the race for top spot in the NOJHL standings.

Rolling right along as well are the T-Birds, who have won seven in succession and have gone 12-1 overall as they sit with a co-NOJHL-best 24 points.

Cochrane also boasts 24 points to date with a 12-3 record.
