Voodoos sign pair of locals

POWASSAN — The Powassan Voodoos stayed very close to home by signing Powassan native Charlie Giesler and Callander product Travis Miller, the club announced Friday.

At 6’1” and 175 pounds, Giesler brings some size and versatility as the former North Bay AAA Trapper and West Ferris Trojan can play both forward and defence.

Giesler joins Tyler Peters as the second Powassan native on the Voodoos roster this season.

In Travis Miller, the Voodoos get a small, quick forward who netted nine goals along with 18 assists for 27 points in 36 games last year split between the Temiscaming Titans and the Almaguin Spartans of the non-sanctioned Greater Metro Junior ‘A’ Hockey League.

Miller, Giesler and the rest of the Voodoos will open the regular season on Friday, Sept. 11 as they travel West to Noelville to take on the expansion French River Rapids.
