Voodoos up to 10th in CJHL rankings; Canadians & Thunderbirds honourable mention

CALGARY, Alta. (Monday, Oct. 23, 2017) – The Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) announced its’ latest Top 20 rankings, for the period ending Oct. 23, and the Thief River Falls Norskies (SIJHL) remain No. 1 overall.

MHL: The Yarmouth Jr. ‘A’ Mariners are up to No. 12 nationally while the South Shore Lumberjacks make their first appearance with honourable mention status.

LHJAAAQ: The Cobras de Terrebonne and College Français de Longueuil continue to pace the LHJAAAQ and are ranked ninth and 11th respectively.

CCHL: Having reeled off nine straight wins, the Carleton Place Canadians are now fifth in the listings and the Fred Page Cup-host Ottawa Jr. ‘A’ Senators have moved up to 14th in the 132-team CJHL.

OJHL: The Toronto Patriots (8th), Wellington Dukes (15th) and Georgetown Raiders (16th) are still in the Top 20 while the Oakville Blades garnered honourable mention laurels.

NOJHL: The Powassan Voodoos have jumped to 10th in the rankings with the Rayside-Balfour Canadians and Soo Thunderbirds getting honourable mention.

SIJHL: The Thief River Falls Norskies are now 10-0, including an overtime road win Friday vs. the Dudley-Hewitt Cup-host Dryden GM Ice Dogs, who are sixth in the CJHL.

MJHL: A three-way tie atop the MJHL standings sees the Steinbach Pistons and Winkler Flyers ranked in the Top 20 while the OCN Blizzard picked up a HM nod.

SJHL: The 8-0-1 Battlefords North Stars are now No. 2 in the CJHL. Joining them in the rankings is the Melfort Mustangs at 17 and Weyburn Red Wings at 18.

AJHL: The Okotoks Oilers sit third in the CJHL rankings and the Fort McMurray Oil Barons are fourth with both clubs having only one loss in regulation.

BCHL: It remains tight in the BCHL with nine teams there within three points for top spot overall there. The Penticton Vees and Powell River Kings are first and second in winning percentage respectively in that league.
