GALLERY: Beavers win big to hand Voodoos 2nd straight loss

BLIND RIVER, Ont. – Blind River Beavers captain Caleb Serre racked up seven points, with a goal and six assists, to lead his side to a one-sided 9-0 triumph over the Powassan Voodoos in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play Sunday afternoon at the Blind River Community Centre.

Serre started the onslaught with the lone tally of the opening frame as his NOJHL-best 30th goal of the season got the home side going.

Blind River then blew the game open in the middle stanza as they connected six times in just over a 13-minute span to take full control of the contest.

David Campbell and Justin Mauro both scored twice in the offensive outburst while Kyle Quinn and Cole Ambeault supplied singles in the session.

In the third, Devon Savignac struck shorthanded for the Beavers before Quinn connected on the power play, later in the frame, to finish off the scoring.

A total of 13 Blind River skaters collected points in the romp.

Beavers’ netminder Jackson Hjelle made 26 saves to record the win and register his third shutout of the season.

Owen Say started for Powassan and suffered his first loss in league play allowing five against on 26 attempts while Luke Greenwood handled 26 of 30 in relief.

With the result, Blind River improves to 19-7-1-2 on the season while the Voodoos slipped to 23-3-0-0 overall.
