NOJHL names its BrokerLink Insurance 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forward Jack Nolan (Powassan Voodoos); defenceman Mason Chitaroni (Greater Sudbury Cubs) and goaltender Connor Dunham-Fox (Blind River Beavers) have been named its BrokerLink Insurance 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Oct. 6.

Jack Nolan, (F) Powassan Voodoos: Breaking out in a big way, Nolan racked up five goals, including the eventual game-winner, as part of a victory at French River Sunday afternoon.

The 19-year-old from Pittsburgh, Penn., also dished out an assist in the triumph as he capped off the week of his return to the NOJHL in style with a half-dozen points.

The five tallies by Nolan matches the most in league play since November 18, 2023 when Harry Clark accomplished the same feat for the Timmins Rock in a triumph over Iroquois Falls.

Mason Chitaroni, (D) Greater Sudbury Cubs: The Cubs’ captain provided solid play at both ends of the ice in his clubs’ 3-0 week.

Collecting assists in each of Greater Sudbury’s three outings, Chitaroni dished out six in total while extending a point streak to four straight games.

Hailing from Marathon, Ont., the 20-year-old blueliner sits tied for second in offensive production among NOJHL defencemen on the campaign with 11 points, which are all helpers.

Connor Dunham-Fox, (G) Blind River Beavers: Allowing only four goals-against in three starts away from home, his efforts helped the Beavers collect a pair of wins and move into second spot, points wise, in the NOJHL standings.

In just under 180 minutes of action during the time frame, the 19-year-old from Edmonton, Alta., boasted an average of 1.34 as well as an equally stellar save percentage of .955.

Having only given up two, or fewer goals, in each of the past five starts, Dunham-Fox tops all league netminders who have played 300-plus minutes so far this season in both average and save mark at 1.84 and .944 respectively.
