Powassan goaltender Flageolle commits to NCAA D-III Suffolk

POWASSAN, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Powassan Voodoos announced Wednesday that goaltender Kannon Flageolle has committed to attend NCAA D-III Suffolk University and compete with the Rams’ men’s hockey program.

Located in Boston, Mass., Suffolk plays out of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) and are coached by former NHLer Shawn McEachern.  

“I’m just excited for the opportunity to continue my hockey career next season, as well as continue my academics at Suffolk University,” said Flageolle.

He went on to add: “I’m also grateful for the opportunity I’ve had here with the Voodoos, to help me reach this milestone,” stated the 20-year-old Littleton, Colo., product.

In 23 games so far this season, Flageolle sports a solid record of 15-6-0-0 with Powassan, along with a goals-against average of 2.64 and a .916 save percentage.

Those numbers place him in the Top 10 in each category, among league netminders, including being tied for third overall in victories.

Voodoos’ goaltender coach, Andrew Beausseau, was ecstatic when he heard the news of Flageolle’s NCAA commitment and offered: “Kannon is a great kid with a great work ethic.”

Beausseau went on to provide: “He has worked hard and built himself into having plenty of potential to be a top netminder at the NCAA D-III level. To be given the opportunity, he will no doubt be a great add to Suffolk and the Rams’ program.”
