BLIND RIVER, Ont. – The Powassan Voodoos used a well balanced attack getting goals from five different players as they defeated the Blind River Beavers 5-1 Saturday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at the Blind River Community Centre.
Powassan jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period of play getting markers from Josh Ibbitson and Daniel Golba.
The Voodoos extended their cushion to four after 40 minutes as Steve Harland and Aaron Dart, via the power play, added tallies.
Michael Silveri made it 5-0 early in the third as Powassan took control of the contest.
Blind River would put an end to Voodoos’ netminder Mario Cavaliere’s shutout bid with 9:04 to go when Nathan Hans scored on the power play with the final marker of the night.
Eric Nagy also had a big night for Powassan as he doled out three assists in the triumph.
Shots on net favoured the Voodoos 36-23 with Cavaliere posting the victory and Maxwell Barr suffering the loss.
