GALLERY: Rock rallies to upend Voodoos

TIMMINS, Ont. – The Timmins Rock roared back from an early two-goal deficit to pull out a 4-2 victory over the Powassan Voodoos in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League matinee Sunday afternoon at McIntyre Arena in front of 711 spectators.

Capping off a three-game road trip in as many days, Powassan got the early jump offensively getting first period markers from Rico Rossi, at even strength, and Tomas Yachmenev, on the power play, to give them a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

It was all Timmins in the middle stanza however as they struck for a trio of tallies to take a 3-2 edge into the second intermission on markers from Luke Bolduc, Derek Seguin and Gage Tremblay.

The score stayed that way until the late going when Seguin scored into an empty net to secure the win with his second of the game and 22nd overall, which tied him for the league lead in that category.

Tyler Masternak in the Rock net made 23 saves on the day to record the win

Powassan netminder Christian Cicigoi suffered the setback while stopping 24 of 27 with Joe Vrbetic making one save in a brief 88-second relief stint.

With the result, Timmins moved into a tie for top spot in the NOJHL East Division joining idle Cochrane with 46 points apiece.
