Voodoos add more scoring

The Powassan Voodoos acquired 1997 birth year forward Gary Mantz from the Waterloo Siskins of the GOJHL.

Mantz netted 27 goals along with 13 assists for 40 points last year for the Junior ‘B’ team last season.

The Waterloo native was up for a team visit to Powassan this past weekend.

“Being able to sign with the Powassan Voodoo’s means a lot to me,” stated Mantz.

“They are giving me an opportunity to grow as a player and a person. I’m excited to start this season and meet all the boys, coaching staff and especially the fans. This is all new to me and a new beginning.  I’m very excited to be a Powassan Voodoo.”

Voodoos GM Chris Dawson says the team kept a close eye on Mantz last season.

“We have seen the impact Junior B players have had in our league like Stortz last season with the Gold Miners,” Dawson stated.

“We hope Mantz can have a big impact for us as well. He is a small but skilled forward and we are thrilled with his addition.”

Mantz will get a chance to get accustomed to his new teammates on August 26th when the Voodoos open their main training camp in Powassan.
