Voodoos and Blackhawks set to meet in NOJHL playoffs

The Powassan Voodoos and the Mattawa Blackhawks battled 12 times this season.  Well, they will play at least 2 more times next week. 

The Voodoos won the season series 9-3 over the Blackhawks, however the much improved Blackhawks have won the last two meetings and since mid January 18th, the teams are 3-3 against each other.  

The two NOJHL East teams will clash in a best-of-three wildcard series, with the winner set to play the East’s leaders the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners in the NOJHL quarter-final which would face-off on Saturday, March 14th in Kirkland Lake. 

Game 1 will take place on Monday, March 9th in Powassan, with a 7:00 p.m. puck drop.  

Game 2 will resume in Mattawa on Tuesday, March 10th for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop. 

Game 3, if necessary, will take place in Powassan on Thursday, March 12th.  Puck drop set for 7:00 p.m. 

The Voodoos have two games remaining in the regular season as they take on the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners on Friday night then return home for their regular season finale Saturday night against the Cochrane Crunch. 

The Blackhawks end the season on the road with a trip to Cochrane to face the Crunch Friday night and finish the year in Iroquois Falls against the Abitibi Eskimos Saturday night.
