Voodoos get help from Battalion

The Powassan Voodoos upgraded their forward position on Thursday when North Bay Battalion sent down forward David Sherman to their NOJHL affiliate.  

In 29 games the Mississauga, Ontario product netted 3 goals and 3 assists with the Battalion in his rookie season in the Ontario Hockey League. 

Sherman was the Battalion’s 2nd round pick in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection.  

 

Sherman joins other Battalion prospects on the Voodoos including forwards Kyle Moore, Steven Harland, Brendan D’Agostino and goaltender Jack Ondrovic.  

 

The Voodoos GM and VP of Hockey Operations Chris Dawson believes Sherman will be bolster to offence any bring some much needed size to the Voodoos lineup.  

“David is a big body who can play both centre and wing,” said Dawson. 

“We needed more size up front and he definitely brings that along with some tremendous offensive potential.  We are excited to have him join our club as we hope he develops, gains confidence and becomes an even better player for the Battalion down the road.”  

 

The Voodoos made room Wednesday by trading American forwards Dante Juris and Jack Zanville to the Blind River Beavers for a development fee. 

 

The Voodoos also released local forward/defenceman Cory Tremblay.   

Sherman and his new teammates are back on the ice Friday when they host the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners.  Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Powassan Sportsplex.
