Voodoos get split on weekend homestand

The Powassan Voodoos finished with a split in a pair of weekend contests at the Powassan Sportsplex.

On Friday, October 24th, Steve Harland scored twice including an empty netter as the Voodoos beat the Abitibi Eskimos 4-1.

Newly acquired goaltender Matt Young was credited with the victory as he turned away 25 shots and was named the game’s first star.

Tyler Gervais-Rolfe and Nick Proulx had the other goals for the Voodoos in the win.

Midget AAA Trappers affiliate players Jeff Jordan and Joe Whittet recorded their first junior A points on Proulx’s first period marker.

On Saturday, the Voodoos built up a 2-1 first period lead only to see the visiting Elliot Lake Wildcats battle back for a 5-3 win.

Kyle Moore, Steve Harland and Stavros Soilis scored for the Voodoos in the loss.

The Voodoos are back on home ice on Monday, November 3rd when they take on the Cochrane Crunch.  Puck drop is 7:30 p.m. at the Powassan Sportsplex.
