Voodoos ink Trappers star

The Powassan Voodoos stayed close to home for the organization’s first new player signing of the 2026-27 season.

The Voodoos inked 17-year-old forward Cedar Montreuil from the North Bay U18 AAA Trappers, the club announced on Monday.

The Mattawa product had a stellar season with the Great North U18 champs, netting 34 goals and 25 assists, totalling 59 points in 35 games last season.

“It feels great because growing up in North Bay, it has always been the goal to make it to the next level and play for the Voodoos,” stated the 5’8”, 172-pound forward.

“I think I am a big grind guy, I like getting into battles, and I also like to finish.”

Montreuil, affiliated with the Voodoos for the past two seasons. He has impressed the Voodoos’ staff not only with his regular-season scoring but also with how he has elevated his game in the playoffs, netting 16 goals in 9 playoff games over the past two playoff seasons in the Great North U18 Hockey League.

The Voodoos have been impressed with his development with both the U16 and U18 Trappers.

“Our organization is excited to sign North Bay Trappers Forward, Mattawa resident Cedar Montreuil,” said Peter Goulet, Voodoos head coach.

“Cedar brings energy every game and is a natural goal scorer.”

Montreuil will join his new teammates and prospects at the Voodoos summer prospects camp at Pete Palangio arena on July 4 and 5.
