Voodoos move to No. 2 in CJHL rankings; Thunderbirds slip to 13th

SUDBURY – Rolling right along with an impressive 22-game winning streak in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League has also helped the Powassan Voodoos surge up in Canadian Junior Hockey League Top 20 rankings.

The final listings for 2016, announced Monday, sees the NOJHL-leading Voodoos tabbed No. 2 overall in the 132-team CJHL while the Soo Thunderbirds were slotted 13th nationally.

The Voodoos, who put their incredible win run on the line tonight at home vs. the Iroquois Falls Eskis at 7:30 p.m. at the Powassan Sportsplex, continue to pace the overall NOJHL standings with 59 points on a solid 29-3-1-0 record.

Sault Ste. Marie meanwhile remains in top spot in the league’s West Division with 53 points on a 26-8-1-0 mark.

Powassan also leads the league in terms of winning percentage at .894 while the T-Birds are second at .757.

Collège Français de Longueuil (LHJAAAQ) continues as the No. 1 club in the CJHL while the Georgetown Raiders (OJHL) sits at No. 3.
