FRENCH RIVER – The Powassan Voodoos answered back from a two-goal deficit Tuesday night to pull out a 4-3 victory in overtime versus the French River Rapids in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League exhibition play at Noelville Arena.

After falling 3-2 in OT to the Voodoos on Sunday, the Rapids found their skating legs early on this night as they dashed out to a 2-0 lead after one period of play on tallies from Cam MacDonald and Jackson Doyle.

Regrouping in the middle session, Powassan collected tallies from Cayden Kowal and Andrew Scott to tie things up at 2-2 heading to the second intermission.

Down a skater in the third, Conor O’Brien struck for a shorthanded marker with 9:22 to play to put the Voodoos up 3-2.

Countering two and a half minutes later, the Rapids supplied an equalizer to help send it to extra time on a Matthew Campanella wrap-around effort.

However, as was the case in their initial preseason meeting a couple of days earlier, Powassan prevailed off a Sean Thies decider 18 seconds into OT.

Dan Dirrocolo picked up the win in relief for the Voodoos, as he split time between the pipes with starter Kannon Flabeolle.
