The Powassan Voodoos added more local talent to the roster with the addition of talented U16 AAA Trappers forward Aidan Duchesne, the club announced on Thursday.
Duchesne had 12 goals and 22 assists for 34 points in 29 games in the Great North U18 League with the North Bay U16 AAA Trappers.
His regular season was cut short with a late-season shoulder injury. He was also a member of Team NOHA, which participated in the OHL Cup.
The 5’8″, 140-pound forward was an affiliate with the Voodoos last season and impressed recently at the Voodoos Prospects Camp at Pete Palangio Arena on July 4 and 5.
Duchesne, who was drafted in the 15th round in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection by the Battalion, is thrilled to sign and develop with the North Bay OHL team’s NOJHL affiliate.
“I grew up watching the Voodoos, and now I will be playing for them, so it’s pretty special,” said Duchesne.
“I have always played against bigger and stronger competition, so I feel I know how to play at that pace now.
“I consider myself a playmaker; I take a lot of pride in setting my teammates up, and I am a player that will come out every day and give 110 per cent, and I will do what I can to help the team win.”
Chris Dawson, Voodoos general manager, believes Duchesne has a great upside.
“He’s a very talented young local player,” said Dawson.
“We have let a few young local players get away from us in the past, but we don’t want to make that mistake with Aidan. He’s a very smart hockey player and despite being undersized, he makes things happen every time he has the puck on his stick, and we believe that will translate to the NOJHL this fall.”
Duchesne will join the rest of his new Voodoos teammates for the start of Voodoos training camp on August 20.
