The Powassan Voodoos wrapped up another successful July Prospects Camp at Pete Palangio Arena in North Bay.
More than 60 players attended during the three-team tournament that took place Saturday and Sunday.
Peter Goulet, Voodoos head coach, was excited to see the attendance numbers at the summer skate.
“In my 22 years of doing camps at the junior A level, this one was probably one of the most balanced camps,” noted Goulet.
“Every game was close; there were no blowout games. Our staff came together amazingly in the last 10, 12 days and got a great camp put together and a lot of really good hockey players that’ll play junior ‘A ‘ in the future.”
Goulet says the Voodoos hockey operations staff was impressed with the growing local content at the camp.
“It was amazing to have so many Trappers’ players out,” he noted.
“We had 15 and 16-year-olds out here. You know, they’re here trying to prove to themselves and to us that they are future Voodoos.”
As with most off seasons, the Voodoos will announce more signings after the July camp.
The Voodoos come into 2026-27 after finishing second overall in the NOJHL; their highest regular-season finish since finishing first overall and seventh in the country at the end of the 2019-20 NOJHL season, whose playoff schedule was cancelled due to COVID-19.
However, the Voodoos were upset in four games in the playoffs at the hands of the underdog Soo Eagles.
The Voodoos will return to Powassan for the start of main camp on August 20.
