SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that forwards Jackson Truchan (Soo Thunderbirds); Brady Harroun (Timmins Rock) and Chase Strychaluk (Powassan Voodoos) have been named its initial Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the 2023 playoffs.

JACKSON TRUCHAN, (F) SOO THUNDERBIRDS – Posting a pair of four-point efforts, Truchan registered a league-best eight points in helping Sault Ste. Marie take a two-game series lead against Blind River.

The 20-year-old Famington Hills, Mich., native notched his initial NOJHL hat trick, including collecting the deciding tally, and dished out five assists to pace the Thunderbirds offensively.

Dating back to the regular season, Truchan has registered points in seven straight outings, picking up 17 in total.

Harroun provided back-to-back two-tally nights for the Rock on home ice on Friday and Saturday.

He now has scored in each of his past five outings as well as in eight of his past nine while picking up points in 22 consecutive contests, dating back to mid-January.

The 19-year-old from Oakville, Ont., dished out two helpers in each contest to pace Powassan offensively.

In his first 22 games, including the two playoff meetings, since joining the Voodoos back in late November, Strychaluk has performed at over a point-per-game clip with 26 in 22 contests.
