NOJHL names its Eastlink 3 Stars of the week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday forwards Shane Beaulieu of the Powassan Voodoos and Kyle Liinamaa of the Rayside-Balfour Canadians along with Powassan defenceman Eric Allair have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Jan. 21.

SHANE BEAULIEU, (F) POWASSAN VOODOOS – A model of consistency so far this season, the 20-year-old from Whitby, Ont., continued his productive ways for Powassan during a five-game stint in seven days.

Beaulieu etched his name on the scoresheet in all five match-ups his squad had over the time frame as he picked up two goals and doled out eight assists for a 10-point week.

He is currently riding a five-game point streak and had also either tallied or set-up markers in 17 of his past 20 contests.

The offensive upswing has helped the Voodoos forward move into second spot in scoring on his team with 53 points in 40 games on 17 goals and 36 assists.

His is also presently tied for sixth overall among all league skaters in scoring with Elliot Lake’s Jacob Kelly.

KYLE LIINAMAA, (F) RAYSIDE-BALFOUR CANADIANS – Another NOJHLer who continues to produce as of late is Rayside-Balfour’s Liinamaa, who earns league 3 Stars honours for a second straight week.

His latest effort saw him score five times and assist on four others in just two games as the Canadians took a home-and-home versus Espanola. This included a personal single-game high six-point performance on Saturday.

The 19-year-old Sudbury native has currently notched at least one goal in each of his past five contests and has points in nine of his previous 11 match-ups.

ERIC ALLAIR, (D) POWASSAN VOODOOS – Also part of the that busy week for the Voodoos was defenceman Allair.

In the five outings for Powassan the 18-year-old North Bay product scored once and doled out seven assists helping the league-leaders extend their cushion atop the overall NOJHL standings.

Since returning to the organization earlier this month, Allair has scored twice and helped set-up seven others in seven contests.
