The Powassan Voodoos have bolstered their offence adding 2005 birth year American forward Parker Bonsignore as a free agent, the club announced Thursday.
The Rochester, New York product has a familiar name to the north as his father Jason Bonsignore played for the Sudbury Wolves in the 1990s and went on to play 79 NHL games with Edmonton and Tampa Bay.
The 6’1”, 175 pound forward split last season between the Aurora Tigers of the OJHL and the Cornwall Colts of the CCHL netting 4 goals and 1 assist in 20 games split between the two organizations.
“We are super excited that Bonsignore, a left shot forward, has decided to sign with our team,” said Peter Goulet, Voodoos head coach.
“Parker is a tremendous talent and even more important a tremendous young man. We are thrilled to have him join our team this week.”
Goulet has watched Bonsignore for a number of years and talented American is hoping a great year in Powassan will lead to college hockey opportunities next season.
“I’ve known coach Pete for a while now and I’m excited to bring grit and scoring ability to a very talented group,” said Bonsignore.
Bonsignore will join the Voodoos for their first Western road swing of the season as they cross the border to face the Soo Eagles at the Pullar Stadium Friday night at 7 p.m. in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
