The Powassan Voodoos have improved their hockey operations with the addition of Marc Gagnon, who takes on the role of associate general manager, Battalion Liaison and VP of Hockey Operations, the club announced on Tuesday.
Gagnon re-joined the Powassan Voodoos after a successful stint as general manager with the Espanola Paper Kings from 2022 to 2026.
The Powassan product was an assistant coach and scout with the Powassan Voodoos from 2014 to 2017, where he won an NOJHL title with his hometown team.
“I am extremely excited to be reuniting with the Powassan Voodoos organization, where I was fortunate to be part of the 2017 championship team,” said Gagnon.
“This opportunity allows me to work closely with GM Chris Dawson in the day-to-day hockey operations while helping build a competitive team capable of pursuing another championship. Equally important is our commitment to developing players and helping them advance to the next level in their hockey careers.
The North Bay Battalion works well with the Voodoos as their affiliate team. The two teams believe bringing Gagnon back to Powassan makes sense.
“Marc has been a great addition since joining our club last season,” stated Adam Dennis, Battalion president/director of hockey operations.
“This new role for him will create better synergy and strengthen the already strong relationship that we have with the Voodoos.”
Gagnon is looking forward to the new liaison role.
“I will maintain strong communication between both organizations, monitor the progress and development of Battalion draft picks, provide feedback and support, and help identify players ready to take the next step in their hockey journey,” explained Gagnon.
“The goal is to strengthen the development partnership between the two clubs.
“I would also like to thank the Espanola organization for the opportunities.”
Chris Dawson, Voodoos general manager, believes the Gagnon hire will strengthen what he feels is a great, hard-working hockey operations staff.
“We certainly welcome Marc’s great hockey mind back to the Voodoos organization,” said Dawson.
The Voodoos general manager was referring to the impressive regional and national resume he is building.
Gagnon has played a key role as director of scouting with Team NOHA in overseeing the all-star team that competes annually at the OHL Cup.
He was also named director of hockey operations for Team Canada East at the 2024 World Junior A Challenge, which took place in Camrose, Alberta in December 2024.
