Voodoos add more local content

The Powassan Voodoos added more local content to their roster this weekend with the signing of Midget AAA Trappers defenceman Jeremy St. Pierre.

The Sturgeon Falls native recorded 2 goals and 9 assists totalling 11 points in 29 games in the Great North Midget League last season.     St. Pierre stood out on the weekend during the Voodoos Free Agent Camp at Pete Palangio arena.     “I just like how he has his head up the whole game, moving the puck.  He likes jumping in on the rush.  He’s a young guy, and he’s a local so it’s nice to have him on the team,” said Voodoos Head Coach Scott Wray.     St. Pierre joins 3 other North Bay Midget AAA Trappers teammates Josh Ibbitson, Michael Silveri, and Nathan McLeod on the Voodoos.     Silveri will join the Voodoos if he doesn’t make the Sudbury Wolves OHL roster this fall.     “Its really good knowing some of the players, I know how to play with them and how they play so it will be an easy transition,” said St. Pierre.     I’m excited for the new challenge, always working hard and just trying to be my best.  Being affiliated with the Battalion you can’t go wrong and Powassan is close to home.”     The Voodoos will hit the ice again on August 23rd when the franchise assembles for Main Camp in Powassan.      Season Tickets    Voodoos season tickets are available for purchase at Powassan Municipal Office during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) during the week.   Tickets are $229 for adults, $169.50 for Seniors/Students and $113 for Students.   The schedule includes access to 26 NOJHL regular season games.
