The Powassan Voodoos went south of the border adding a forward and a defenceman, the club announced on Friday.
The Voodoos signed forward Liam Roe-Kozorovitsky and defenceman Drew Clayton.
Forward Liam Roe-Kozorovitsky hopes to bring offence to the Voodoos.
The 19-year-old who lives in California but was born in Switzerland, combined for 14 goals and 39 assists for 53 points in 49 games split between Fairmont Prep 18U AAA and the Windy City Storm 18U AAA teams last year.
“I am very appreciative of the opportunity to keep playing the sport I love at a higher level and that Voodoos gave me the chance to,” said Roe-Kozorovitsky.
As for Clayton, the East Lansing, Michigan product who turns 18 in November had 2 assists in 21 games with Detroit Compuware 18U last season.
“The Voodoos are really focussed on developing players and that’s what you want,” said Clayton who visited the Powassan-North Bay Area for the first time this week.
“It’s a tight knit organization that is working to get us to the next level so that is really a motivating factor.
“I describe myself as a defensive defenceman but I have speed and some offence to my game as well.”
Chris Dawson, Voodoos GM, credits former coach Peter Goulet and scout Billy Griffiths for recruiting the two Americans.
“We were very impressed with what we saw from the two this summer at a tournament in Oshawa,” said Dawson.
“We hope they can come in and make an impact as we help to develop them for the next level.”
Roe-Kozorovitsky and Clayton will be in Powassan August 20 for the start of Voodoos training camp.
