Alex Little, named the NOJHL’s top defenceman and finalist for CJHL’s top defenceman will be returning to the Voodoos for his final year of junior eligibility, the Powassan Voodoos announced on Friday.

The Powassan team captain finished second in points among NOJHL rearguards with 58, in 54 games played, marking a 30-point improvement over last season, while establishing personal single-season bests in goals, assists and points.

The former Trappers’ defender was also selected a First Team NOJHL All-Star on defence and was named the Voodoos MVP and Most Sportsmanlike Player during the team’s year end banquet in April.

“I’m excited for what’s to come this year, lots of returning guys and a great staff,” said Little.

“I think this is our year.”

The Minden product has appeared in 104 NOJHL contests while scoring 30 times and setting up 56 others for 86 points.

Peter Goulet, Voodoos head coach and co-owner, believes this is big news for the Powassan Voodoos.

“Alex Little has decided to return for his overage year,” said Goulet.

“Personally I cannot say enough great things about Alex Little as a player he just simply does everything a coach could ever ask for or dream of, and Alex his a true gentleman and a great human being,” Goulet continued.

“Having your captain back is huge for any team but it is especially special when your captain is a great person, a tremendous hockey player who can play in any situation and a great captain respected by his teammates, staff and fans. What more could an organization ask for, welcome back Alex.”

The Voodoos host their prospects camp at Pete Palangio Arena on July 8 and 9.
