BLIND RIVER, Ont. – Powassan Voodoos rookie forward David Campbell scored with 81 seconds left in regulation to register his second game-winning goal of the season and give his side a 3-2 triumph over the Blind River Beavers in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League matinee Sunday afternoon at the Blind River Community Centre.
Getting the Beavers going offensively early on was Nash Hatcher as he scored on the power play 1:36 into the contest as he collected his eighth of the campaign.
The Voodoos countered at 14:55 to knot the affair at 1-1 after one as Rico Rossi scored for a second straight outing as he reached the 10-goal plateau on the season.
Neither team would connect the remainder of the session as well as in a scoreless second stanza as the game entered the third period still tied at one.
Entering the final frame, Powassan struck quickly with Cade Herd finding the back of the net 50 seconds in for his 16th goal overall in 2018-19.
Coming back midway through the session, Hatcher added another for Blind River to tie things up once more with half a period to play.
Then with overtime looming, Campbell broke the deadlock late to give the guests the road win.
Joe Vrbetic made 45 saves to record the win for the Voodoos while Garret Boyonoski faced 43 shots in a losing cause for the Beavers.
