POWASSAN, Ont. – The Powassan Voodoos of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League continue to build their roster for the upcoming season with the addition of American defenceman Cole Douglas, that the club announced on Friday.
”We are very pleased to have a high calibre player such as Cole joining us,” said Marc Lafleur, Voodoos head coach, who recruited Douglas.
The 6’1”, 180-pound blueliner joins the Voodoos from Shady Side Academy (MPHL) in Pennsylvania, where he served as team captain.
He spent the last three seasons there and registered three goals and three assists, for six points, in 15 games in 2021-22.
“I am very excited to come up and add to the back end for Powassan next season,” said the 19-year-old Gibsonia, Penn., product, who made a visit to Powassan in April.
“Coming from the MPHL I am accustomed to fast and physical games and I look forward to the similar style of play in the NOJHL. I think that this league and team fit my play style very well. When I came to visit in the spring it was clear to me that the Voodoos have a great coach in coach Lafleur and an experienced supporting staff. It was clear Powassan was the best team to sign with, and I can’t wait to get started.”
With the signing and trade season opened on June 1, the Voodoos expect to announce more signings within the next week.
