Voodoos sign U18 Trappers star

POWASSAN, Ont. — The Powassan Voodoos stayed local and added one of the top goal scorers in the Great North Midget League with the addition of forward Will Bourre, the club announced Friday.

The 18 year old netted 18 goals and 7 assists for 25 points in 23 games with the North Bay U18 AAA Trappers last season.

Bourre also affiliated with the Voodoos where he registered 2 goals and 1 assists for 3 points in four NOJHL regular season contests in 2021-22.

Bourre’s exposure to the program attending training camp last summer and playing games during that season made it an easy decision.

“The reason why I chose to play for the Voodoos is because I played as an ‘AP’ in Powassan last year and straight away I could see that it’s a great organization and a great opportunity to improve as a player,” said the 6’0”, 180 pound right winger.

“Being local, and being able to play for a great Junior ‘A’ team has been my goal for a while now. I can’t wait to get started.”

Marc Lafleur, Voodoos head coach, was impressed with his play last year as an affiliate.

We are extremely happy to have one of the north’s most dangerous players join our organization,” said Lafleur.

“He will bring offense to the lineup.”

Bourre will join his teammates and prospects for their next skate locally on July 9 at Pete Palangio arena in North Bay.
